BREAK A WORLD RECORD ON KNITTING IN PUBLIC DAY

Worldwide Knitting in Public Day on June 13th is a great opportunity to share your love of yarn and link up with other knitters.

It is the largest annual knitter-run event with activities in 30 countries. At the UK Hand Knitting Association we want to mark the day by encouraging you to help us to complete a knitting world record.

The UKHKA has been working with ICHF Events to create the world’s longest knitted chain – you may have seen eager knitters creating chains at craft shows or even made some yourself. The chain is now close to a mile long and is only 65m short of a new world record.

So why not dig out some scrap yarn, download the pattern and head out Saturday June 13th to show off your skills at a Knitting in Public event (see below) – or just as you are, out and about in a café, library or on the bus. A chain link is also a great project for new knitters, so you might even be able to pass on your skills.

Please send any completed links to UKHKA Links, c/o ICHF, Dominic House, Seaton Road, Highcliffe, Dorset, BH23 5HW.

And please post pictures of your links and knitting in public activities to our Facebook page or on Twitter with the hashtag #WWKIPDay
