Yarn Shop Day is on Saturday 30 April. It is a day to highlight all that is good about local yarn shops and many are putting on events. We asked the yarn shops listed on our find a shop map if what they are doing on the day and you can see what’s going on below.

All Things Wool, Stockton-on-Tees
There will be various offers in the store, plus yummy muffins, goodie bags and lots of free patterns.
Ammonite Yarns, Pontyclun, South Wales
The shop will be celebrating its first anniversary along with Yarn Shop Day. It has joined forces with independent dyer Michelle from Woolly Wumpkins who will be coming along with her camper van to talk about her sock yarns and offer advice on sock knitting. Free event: 11am- 12.30pm
Craft Days, Saffron Walden
Join the Craft Days knitalong – a colour block scarf or wrap in 2 sizes and in 2 stitch option with workshops on the stitches, goody bags for the first 20 customers, free patterns available and tea and cake.
Crafts United, Nottingham
Enjoy a crafty cuppa & cake, 10% discount on selected yarns and a free mystery knitting pattern with every sale. Plus there will be a raffle and opportunities to try knitting, crochet, machine knitting or loom knitting for the first time. 12.00pm – 4.00pm
Horncastle Hobby House, Lincolnshire
The team will be offering free knitting lessons to schoolchildren. There will be goody bags for the first 10 customers spending £10 or more plus free patterns and offers on yarns throughout the day.
There will be lots of special offers on yarns and fabric, also goodie bags for the first 20 customers and free entry into a raffle for all customers. Last but not least there will be cake.
Lauraine’s Crafts, Moray
Lauraine will be out and about with the Mobile Craft Shop, with special promotions and offers to customers. Some patterns will be on offer for the first time
Made Yarns, Wallasey
Free tea and cake plus quizzes and games on the hour there will be pass the parcel at 11.00am and 2.00pm.
Samuel Taylors, Brighouse
There will be 10% off all full priced yarn on the day and a knit (or crochet) and natter in the afternoon, with tea and cakes in aid of Marie Curie which will run 2pm – 4pm.
Sheepish, Bishops castle, Shropshire
Sheepish will be celebrating its first Birthday on Yarn Shop Day with free tea and cake and a drop in knit and natter from 11.00 -12.30. 20% off all yarns plus 10% off gift ware. First 5 customers will receive bamboo sheep socks and the raffle prize is for a free place on a course at the Sheepish Hub.
Sitting Knitting, Stable Gallery Sutton Coldfield
The shop will be launching a new mystery yarn and offering tea and cake all day along with a free sitting knitting shopper/project bag with purchases over £50 and 10% off all purchases. Everyone is welcome to sit and knit from 3.30pm to 5.30pm.
The Good Wool Shop, Formby
Free patterns, special offers and childrens’ activities throughout the day from 9.30 – 5pm. Plus a headline event at 5.30, at Elbow Lane Methodist Church – a talk by Lynne Hawksworth about the wonderful charity Knitted Knockers. Admission is free, refreshments provided.
The Wool Cabin, Clacton-on-Sea,
The shop is planning a “megaknit event” with a raffle, tea and cake and special offers. Visit between 2 and 3pm.
The Wool Shop, Derby
Will be holding a raffle (free ticket with each purchase). There will be special one-day only discounts on some yarns, free giveaway patterns for Yarn Shop Day mascots, homemade cake and expert advice on hand all day to assist you with your knitting or crochet.
Wool For Ewe, Aberdeen,
This year we are having an animal themed day, with an amazing window display of some knitted and crocheted creatures from various books and patterns available to buy in store. Kits for for adults and children to have a go at knitting simple headbands with various animal ears attached, yummy treats, and goodie bags/prizes to be won
The shop is hosting a giant tea party with lots of exciting offers, vouchers, goodie bags and raffle prizes. There will also be the chance to purchase a limited edition mystery blanket kit. It will also be providing free learn to knit taster sessions on the day and a knitters drop in surgery for those with a specific question.
Wool Tree, Bedington, Northumberland,
There will be free raffle and a one day half price sale on selected yarns, along with special giveaways. Staff will be demonstrating the use of Ravelry (with free pattern printing) and providing refreshments.
Wool Zone, Oakham, Rutland
Will be celebrating yarn shop day with goody bags to the first 20 customers spending £15 or more, bargains throughout the day, competitions and cake.
