Trendwatch: Colour of the Year

Each year the colour experts at Pantone pick a colour that they think will be a strong trend in the coming year and in some way sums up what is happening in the world.

For the 2018 colour of the year they have chosen Ultra Violet, which the company describes as embodying “originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking”

As knitters and crocheters tend to be fans of originality and ingenuity, we had a look round for some yarns that would fit in the Ultraviolet family. From chunky wool, to light summer yarns this is clearly a colour range we can use all year round and be right on trend.

Stylecraft Batik (Plum); Rico Fashion Alpaca Dream (purple); King Cole Vogue DK (Rich Lilac); James C. Brett Rustic with Wool Aran (shade 20); Wendy Pixile DK (Aubergine); Sublime Lola (Darcie)

We will be looking in a future post at some of the colours to pair ultra violet with but you can see some ideas here.
