As we reported the other week the experts at Pantone have named Ultraviolet as the colour of the year for 2018.
Of course, very few of us will want to knit or crochet in just one colour all year but we are set to see a lot of purple in fashion and homewares this year. With this in mind Pantone have produced some palettes of colours that will work with Ultraviolet. You might think of using these to find combinations for colourwork, to make accessories to go with a purple garment or to make something you will accessorize with violet, for example.
We have picked out a few colour suggestions and yarns that fit the bill.
Earth tones can make a lovely contrast to purples. Think leather belts over sweaters, wooden and shell buttons and knitted bags with leather handles.
It may also be the year for purple socks with tan leather shoes or boots.
From colourwork to a blue jumper with a violet necklace or scarf there are some lovely colour combinations with a range of blues and purples. Here are few to enjoy.
Don’t be afraid of a strong contrasting colour – especially with the ongoing trend for colour block sweaters and shawls [link]. If dramatic colour blocks aren’t your thing, these are great fashion colours that will make a refreshing change from a lot of purple.
