Inspirations – summer style for kids

The last few sunny days have made us put away the big woolly projects in favour of small items and cotton yarns, avoiding that lap blanket insulation some projects create.

One good option for warmer weather knitting and crochet is to make children’s and baby items which are also quick makes so will be ready for this year’s warmer days. Think cooler yarns with bamboo and cotton, short sleeves or lacy patterns.

We picked out a few items to start you thinking.

Clockwise from top left: Cute “Crumpet” crochet cardigan in Erika Knight Gossypium Cotton; Hayfield Sundance DK (50%cotton, 50% acrylic) mother and daughter striped tops; Unisex kids’ top in King Cole Comfort Kids DK; Cotton jacket with stripy sleeves in Rico Cottonsoft; A short sleeved cardigan like this one in Jenny Watson Babysoft DK is a useful layering option; Light baby jacket in Stylecraft Bambino DK
