The lovely warm weather over Easter started the UK Hand Knitting team thinking about summer cardigans.
These are such a useful item in a warm weather wardrobe. Something that looks good with a range of clothing, that isn’t too warm but is comfortable when a breeze strikes up or the sun goes down and is easily popped into a bag or rucksack.
For some of us this means a lacy bolero, for others it is something long and floaty or it might be a neat almost vintage looking garment.
Then there is the choice of yarn. Summery yarns like linen, cotton or bamboo (or blends with these in) are popular options but a lightweight wool option can be the answer.
We asked our social media followers what they prefer for a go-to summer cardigan. While comfort and looks are popular and quite a few people said they prefer 4-ply wool even in summer, there was lot of variety in what the perfect cardie might be.
With this in mind we have picked out a selection of patterns to inspire you.

Do let us know what your favourite summer cardie style is.
