When the chilly weather arrives at this time of year, sometimes you want to be able to work up a new woolly in no time flat.
This is when a super chunky yarn comes in very handy indeed. Super chunkies are knitted or crocheted on 10mm or 12mm needles and hooks which means your work grows very fast indeed.
They are also generally quite soft and squishy yarns making for something very soft and snuggly indeed.
Our top tip for using super chunky yarns is to use a circular needle rather than straight needles even when working in rows because it will help you manage the weight and bulk of your work as it grows.
There is a good range of super chunky yarns available including variegated and striping ones and tweedy options as well as bright plain colours.
We’ve picked out a few options from our members to get you started.
