Every new year the experts at Pantone identify their colour of the year, which they think sums up the shades and tones likely to influence the next twelve months of design. This year they have taken it a step further and added a new purply blue to their palette for 2022.
Pantone describes “Very Peri” as displaying a “spritely, joyous attitude and dynamic presence that encourages courageous creativity and imaginative expression”. And it will certainly bring joy to blue and purple lovers.
As this is a new shade for Pantone, it’s unlikely that there is a single yarn colour that exactly matches it but we’ve had a look for a few that seem to be in the same ball park.
Clockwise from top left we have Stylecraft Special DK Lavender, James C Brett Lazy Days Chunky in Lavender, King Cole Pricewise DK in Larkspur and Rico Creative Cotton Print Aran’s Lilac-Brown Mix shows how a shade like this might work with other colours (see more below).
If you are feeling inspired by the idea of Very Peri, Pantone has also produced swatch cards showing how it works with other colours – you can see them all here.
Here are a couple that we liked Star of the Show which gives an idea of how shade like Very Peri might work with more neutral shades while Amusements is all about bright shades.
