Now that we’re finally seeing some occasion glimmers of sunshine, we’ve been thinking about summer colours and yarns. Fashion writers have been listing their top summer colours since the depths of winter but it needs a touch of warmer weather to make the ideas really seem relevant.
This year there seem to be a lot of “hot” colours to choose from, so we’ve picked out a few favourites that look good in summer yarns.
Which shades will appear in your wardrobe?
Porcelain white
White is the ultimate summer colour – if you’re confident of not spilling ice cream or wine on it. It looks fab in simple lacy knits or fillet crochet.
James C Brett It’s Pure Cotton shade IC09
Peachy
With peach as the colour of the year, we’re seeing a lot of peachy, tangerine and coral shades around – you should be able to find a variation to suit you.
Rico Essential Cotton DK, Azalea
Cherry Red
Or you could go really fruity with a bold Cherry Red – a simple summer tee or a cropped cardie could add a real flash of summer colour.
Cygnet Yarns Silcaress DK, Cherry
Seaside blues
For cooler tones look to sky and sea blues which look great on their own or striped with white.
West Yorkshire Spinner Elements DK, Sea Salt
Other classic shades still up there on the list are:
Pastel Lilacs
Think classic cardigans over summer dresses, and lilac comes to mind. A pastel summer garment should stand you in good stead for several years,

Pretty Pinks
Pinks of all shades look good with summer florals and sunny days.
